Dear Will Richardson,

I read, "What We've Always Known about Education" and i agree with you about how education is becoming one of the most important things today. Getting a job can be completely based off of where you went to school and how your grades were so someone that had D's throughout high school and dropped out of collage wouldn't be a very likely candidate for a upper end job and in some cases even a lower end job. We have always known how important education is but a good education is becoming even more important especially in the current poverty situation in America; companies want a reliable worker and not someone that isnt as trustworthy.

I read "The Last of Its Kind" about the advancements of technology and the fast improving size, mobility and help that these materials bring. Before the computer, we had typewriters with one font where now a days there are hundreds of them to chose from. Also you can now keep a laptop in your backpack when back then you would have to lug it around with you. These small advancements are opening new companies and closing many others. Soon a new, easier way to do something will come out and companies will have to make a choice, to change and create the new thing or eventually be shut down. Technology will always be evolving and improving which is fascinating because you never know what is going to come out next.

I read "On the Other Hand" and this rings true to me in a way because is has become obvious that my generation is far to attached to material objects than necessary. Everywhere i look i see electronics, even my grandpa has started to text and rely on electronics. We need to take a step back out of our electronic world and see how nice things would be without them. I do rely on electronics such as my phone and computer a little bit but my day does not revolve around them. They can cause car crashes and keep you form your education which is not the intention of these materials. I think we should use them for what they were meant for which is research.

I read "Are We Wasting Children?" and completely agree with you because schools cant kill off students. Sacrificing students education to give the school a better reputation is never right, even if it means an increase in school funding. If your nightmare came true then we would be under a lot more pressure in school which students definitely do not need anymore of. Also if your nightmare came true, i might get kicked out of my high school but luckily our teachers are giving us the perfect tools to succeed it just depends on if you are willing to try. Since a percentage of students will drop out of high school anyway, it wouldn't be right to get rid of even more students.

I watched How cognitive surplus will change the world” by Clay Shirky. It was about how the population will be able to help the world by sharing our brain power. It also talks about Ushahidi which Clay Shirky is a huge supporter of because everyone in the world can contribute. Ushahidi helped Haiti recover from the earth quack and has done many other very helpful things in the world. This effects me because I didn't really know how fast we were advancing in technology and it amazes me, also now i know that even I will be able to change the world and it will be able to help me. This effects education because soon we will be taught how to do this kind of thing in school and that isn't to far away. This effects the world because it is about how cognitive surplus will change every life and every country in the world.

I read "Adams City High locked down after ammunition found", about how Adams City High School was locked down all day as Commerce City police searched the school for a gun. They found a loaded magazine for a pistol and the school was in lock down the entire school day. although they claimed that no weapons were found it is still horrible news that a high school student was found with a weapon. This effects me because i thought Columbine would have put a message in out heads that this kind of crime always turns out as a tragedy that no one will forget or forgive. This effects education because these kinds of things are effecting school, Adams City high School was locked down all day so they wasted hours of learning. This effects the world because every school shooting is world news and frankly Columbine made Colorado look kind of bad so luckily we found the magazine before something bad could have happened.

I watched the video Changing Education Paradigms” by RSA Animate. it was about how many Kids aren't relying on education as much as we maybe should be, and how our education system is falling apart. It talked about how the base of education is still the same as it was one hundred years ago, and since the world is always changing this might not be a good thing. This effects me because i know i don't rely on education as much as i should but i am working on it. This effects education because i think the school board needs to rethink how to make things more interesting. This effects the world because we will be leading this country soon, and I know I don't want sloppy, lazy people running it.
